The word solstice comes from the Latin solstitium: sol meaning “sun,” and statum, from stare, meaning “to stand still.”
In this sacred moment, the Sun seems to pause in its journey — as if holding its breath before being reborn.

The Winter Solstice marks the ascending gate of the solar cycle: the promise of light returning after the long night.
It symbolizes silent gestation, the conception of future seeds, and the secret germination that takes place beneath the nurturing influence of the newborn Sun.

During these days when the Sun reaches its lowest point and appears motionless, the Earth rests, turns inward, and prepares for new life.
The Winter Solstice is an ancient rite, older and deeper than that of Summer, for it celebrates not the height of light, but its miraculous return.
It is the Light of Arthur, the Sun-King of Druidic tradition — the triumph of brightness over shadow, the rebirth of the world.

Tonight, we gather around the Fire, mirror of the sacred Sun, to honor this turning point of the year.

The rhythm of the drums will make our hearts beat in unison with the Spirit of Fire and Sun, celebrating the joy of returning light.
In every flame, we will see the reflection of our own renewal — the promise of a new cycle, filled with hope and radiance.

We will offer to the flames the Yule Log, heart of the sacred Fire, witness to the passage, guardian of the reborn light.
As we honor it, we entrust to the fire our dearest wishes and intentions for the year ahead.
As it burns, the log releases the old shadows and lifts our hopes toward the new light.

Its ashes, carrying the Sun’s blessing, will then be spread upon the Earth —
across fields, gardens, and living spaces —
to sow the promise of fertility, prosperity, and abundance to come.

Thus, the cycle is fulfilled: fire purifies, ash nourishes, and light rises again.

Please bring offerings for the fire (milk, butter, tobacco, sacred herbs, sage, thyme, or bay leaves).
